Course-Correcting Delivery: Agile Transformation for a National Energy Rebate Program

Details

Client: ERM

Project Duration: 6 Months

Engagement Model: Subcontracted

Need to turn around a high-stakes delivery?

Whether you’re leading the implementation or stepping in to support it, Alto Apto brings the clarity, experience, and hands-on support to get things moving — fast.
Let’s talk about how we can help course-correct your next complex project.

The Client: Energy Sector Organisation (via ERM)

A large organisation responsible for administering solar and battery rebates across Australia engaged ERM to implement a custom Salesforce solution. With regulatory requirements and rebate policies changing frequently, the implementation needed to be fast, flexible, and robust.

Instead, the project was stalling. A rigid, waterfall-driven approach had led to misaligned expectations, fractured delivery teams, and production instability. ERM turned to Alto Apto to help get things back on track.

The Opportunity

Alto Apto was engaged as a subcontractor by ERM to help shift the delivery approach to something more agile, adaptive, and fit for purpose. Our role spanned multiple domains — development, architecture, delivery management, testing, and stakeholder engagement — with a clear mandate: help reshape a troubled delivery model into one that could scale and respond to rapid government-driven change.

Our Solution

We embedded deeply across the team, working alongside ERM and the client to introduce:

  • Agile ceremonies and delivery rhythms
  • Backlog management tools and rituals, including full adoption of Jira
  • Coaching support for ERM, client stakeholders, and delivery teams
  • CI/CD pipeline improvements to support weekly production deployments
  • Reshaped team structures that eliminated silos and fostered ownership across functions

By delivering hands-on contributions in architecture, testing, development, business analysis, and project management — alongside delivery strategy and cultural coaching — Alto Apto brought both the capability and guidance the program needed to move forward.

Crucially, we introduced change gradually and collaboratively. With no friction or resistance from the ERM or client teams, the transformation stuck — because it was led from within.

Results & Impact

Following Alto Apto’s involvement, the project experienced a dramatic shift:

  • Delivery cadence increased from irregular releases to weekly production deployments
  • Siloed teams merged into a unified, high-functioning delivery unit
  • Regression issues declined, and overall quality of work improved
  • Stakeholder trust and confidence were restored
  • The client was finally able to respond rapidly to evolving government rebate program changes

“Working with Alto Apto to implement an agile project methodology has been a fantastic journey for our team. Their approach greatly enhanced our adaptability, speed, and communication, enabling us to respond quickly and effectively to evolving government changes in the new battery rebate scheme. I can highly recommend engaging with this dynamic and innovative company.”
